Finally finished this thing after nearly a month of cutting clamping, painting and cutting. As usual, I used an old computer book as the base. Colored with my steel/vinegar mixture, the cover is covered with thinned white glue coated tissue paper. The metal trim is made from sheet plastic, treated with textured paint, then a thick layer of Sophisticated Finishes rust surfacer. the rust streaks are simply orange and brown acrylic.
The inside is hollow, so it can be used as a costume prop at conventions, and will allow me to carry small objects, phone, wallet, pocket program, etc around with me.
My favorite feature is the tiny magnet I buried under the surface of the books spine to hold the key in place.

Back?
Oh lord, has it really been over two months since I posted anything? Sorry everyone! My times been mainly consumed by building my static-powered gatling gun for a customer. Its probably my most complex piece yet. Also added today is an update to a previous pistol design. Hopefully with these out of the way I can go back to work on a proper Lovecraftian piece.
Back to my roots
Now that I've gotten a few steampunk builds out of the way, its time to get back to something Lovecraftian and horrific.
Whoo!
After seeing my latest upload, I just got another gun commission. And this ones gonna be huge!
I'm back!
Its been way too long since I added a new piece to the collection. Sorry about that. Blame it on two months of being sick, procrastination, and just generally taking my time planning out how this weapon would look. Heck, it took me ages just to decide what color to make it.
I have to admit though, modding plastic guns is fun!
