The Face in the Box 1

One should always beware of gifts from strangers. Especially if its a strange box with odd symbols and a bizarre seed pod inside. This one was given to a New York reporter in the 1930's who made the mistake of delving too deeply into the connections between a mysterious local religious sect, a string of unsolved murders, and an unusual yellow sign. The gentleman had the good sense to bring it to a local collector of oddities where the pod inside soon grew into this horrid little beast with a taste for raw flesh, nighttime strolls, and a voracious appetite for reading arcane tomes It currently resides in the vault at Miskatonic, well away from the colleges special library.
