Description

In 1946 this small wooden box containing items dedicated to the god Nyarlathotep was found by archeologists excivating a ruined 18th century church in Altamira, Costa Rica. Forwarded to Miskastonic, it proved to be of no great age, perhaps dating from the 1920's at most. The letter is a handwritten prayer to the old ones in Latin from perhaps the turn of the century. Also inside were a key to the gate of a local family crypt, a bottle containing a halucinogenic compound, candles, an amulet of protection, and most interestingly, a representation of Nyarlathotep modified from a small plaster St Mary statue.

As there are no recorded instances of Old God worship in the region, the box and its origin remains a mystery.

Rumour has it that a nearly identical one was found last year in Santillana del Mar in Cantabria, Spain, under the church's pulpit, after an eartquake mangled the floor a bit. It was carefully wrapped in oiled linen, along with a small wooden cross and a note reading "Fue encontrado en la cueva en 1886". The name of the "cueva" existing in the area and the English translation of its name, has filled my dreams with unnamable horrors since the dreadful news reached my ears... Despite my many years long beloved habit of stargazing, I refuse to turn my eyes on the night skies anymore, in fear of what I might behold descending...

You live it man, don't you? Being such a skilled artist and living partly in your art's universe seems almost unbearable to me. If I was wearing a steampunk goggles hat right now, rest assured I'd take it off to you.
